Link raymon, July 5, 2002 at 4:00:36 AM CEST Profile Tiffany Markwart I am twenty-two years old and just finished my second year at the U of S. I am completing a four year BFA honours majoring in Drama. I have completed first and second year acting classes as well props, set construction and voice and movement. I’ve also had dance training in tap and jazz for twelve years. When I was sixteen I attended the Drama Camp. I have always been interested in Drama, performing in plays throughout my elementary and high school years. I’ve done a lot of community theatre with Gateway and Summer Players as well as Children’s Theatre. After University I hope to act professionally. I enjoy all aspects of theatre and will pursue a life in this wonderful creative environment. ... Link raymon, July 5, 2002 at 3:53:39 AM CEST Profile Rachel Packota This is the story of how the middle child of two science-oriented parents became an art major . . . Born in Toronto in 1982, Rachel lived most of her life in Saskatoon. Most people probably thought she was mute but she preferred to ‘speak’ with her painting or cello. Her free time (and class time) was spent drawing, reading, playing music, caring for animals and avoiding people. She was an explorer of the arts - active in everything from visual art to dance to drama and music and even the martial arts. High School was spent at Walter Murray where she was part of the advanced program and blessed with two kind and inspirational teachers as mentors. She became involved in theatre and film (let’s hear it for performance art!) and graduated in 2000 with the decision to pursue acting. So after a year in her rival passion, veterinary medicine, she returned to Drama and has recently appeared in “M” a play based on the Fritz Lang film and received an honourable mention at the 24 hour play writing competition for her script Entropy, Chemistry and other Laws of Nature. Rachel, resides in Saskatoon, has a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do, snowboards and nurtures a growing obsession with Harry Potter. She plans to move back to Toronto to pursue further acting education and become a working actor with her own indie film company. She hopes to use the multiple facets of the arts to inspire and challenge others. She loves art because “it is what I know to be true”.
... Link raymon, July 5, 2002 at 3:50:06 AM CEST Profile Lisa Harms I coming from . . . an adventurous childhood and teen life where my truest friend was play. Booted outside with my brothers and sisters we made bush tribes in our large blackberry bush hacking out paths. We explored abandoned houses and made snail families. My first ‘big’ play was An End of Sorrow at the Surrey Arts Centre. Loved it and took Drama throughout high school. I’m coming from . . . a constant search for life’s meaning/purpose. I spent six years believing it is found in Psychology or in Religion and have also searched for it throught acting. I have discovered that the search is not restricted or found solely in one of these disciplines but may be expressed through all of them (and many other places). What I did learn is it must always begin in my spirit and my heart. Then it can be expressed through whichever discipline I find myself being. I am entering . . . Animal Farm with the Barn Playhouse and have been youth amateur directing for the past two years. I am going . . . I am a third year Drama major at the U of S. I will take all the value I can from the past with me. I am in singing lessons and piano lessons and my dream is to be involved in a theatre company. Then, someday, once I have experienced and gained much wisdom and learned much more I will teach . . . one day . . I am so excited to have fun and ignite a passion for acting with the summer campers of 2002. ... Link raymon, July 5, 2002 at 3:37:06 AM CEST Profile Charlotte Brandrick I grew up in Medstead, a small town of two hundred located about sixty miles north of North Battleford. My parents are both public school teachers so maybe teaching is in my blood somewhere. My school had a small high school drama club that put on one dinner theatre every year. I couldn’t wait to be old enough to try out. Every year I looked forward to the play. All props and costumes were donated by the community and we had a ball. The stage was really just a bunch of tables clamped together. It was a humble theatre beginning but I fell in love with it right away. I based my whole decision to come to the U of S on an “Arts and Science Drama Program” pamphlet I found. I can’t believe I’m already in my last year here. The first years went so fast. The Drama Program has been the best years I have so far experienced. This summer I am having a wonderful experience acting at the Barn Playhouse in Where the Lilacs Bloom and Animal Farm. After University I’m hoping to find a job in my field and continue in the world of Drama. ... Link |
